A £1 million property restoration has been completed in time for the great British summer – allowing families and groups to enjoy a break in the picturesque area of Wiltshire.
Hesdin Hall, situated just outside Bath, has undergone the renovation, restoring the former farmhouse so that it now boasts luxury accommodation for up to 18 guests – complete with its own cinema room, outdoor heated pool, hot tub and sauna. It now features on luxury accommodation provider, sleeps12.com.
Purchased in 2019 by family business, Blockworks, Hesdin Hall was granted planning permission to fully restore and upgrade the beautiful former farmhouse. Following a year of hard graft and determination from brothers Jim and Jeff Jenner, along with the Blockworks team, renovation work was complete in November last year, and the property was added into the sleeps12.com portfolio.
CEO of Blockworks, Jim Jenner, explains:
“It’s no shock that the leisure industry has been through an exceptionally difficult time this past year. However, when I saw Hesdin Hall and its potential opportunity, I was determined to make it work.”
Blockworks, which specialises in large scale conversion projects all over the UK, needed to finance the project. Turning to Cornerstone Finance Group to support them in refinancing the latest holiday let development, Jim was determined to turn his dream into a reality.
Despite the challenges of COVID 19, and many funders shying away from the leisure sector, Jim’s past track record in business, and quality of Hesdin Hall as an asset, meant that finance was secured from Monmouthshire Building Society which provided a long-term funding solution.
Hesdin Hall is now a firm favorite on sleeps12.com, delighting guests who fall for its charm of a restored beautiful farmhouse which has been bought into the 21st century, whilst retaining much of its historic character.
With heaps of room inside, the house makes a superb backdrop to any family holiday, gathering of friends, or for celebrations to remember. Longleat Safari Park and Forest is very close, whilst London is about an hour by train, and it’s only a 20-minute drive from Bath.
“We are thrilled with the outcome of the renovation and are delighted that bookings have been snapped up.
“I had such a vision for Hesdin Hall but was initially concerned about refinancing during Covid times. I need not have worried.
“I had the support of the Cornerstone team, who brought a great deal of knowledge and experience which was invaluable in securing the funding package. The project was completed in January 2021, which released £1m to support the next phase of converting the barn into a luxury holiday stay and I am already in discussions to source funding for the forthcoming projects.”
A very considered restoration has brought this beautiful former farmhouse right into the 21st century whilst retaining the wonderful historic character. With heaps of room inside and out this is a truly amazing big holiday house that. Neighbouring Hesdin Hall is Longleat Safari Park and Forest; hear monkeys whooping, wolves howling and those famous lions roaring. London is about an hour by train, Bath a 20 minute drive, and the eclectic market town of Frome is just a few miles away.
Ian Pottle, Head of Complex Funding at Cornerstone Commercial Finance, commented:
“Working with an experienced and successful developer, such as Jim, was a pleasure.
“The key to any project of this size is both control and the ability to provide accurate and quality information. This ensured we were able to present and articulate the strength and quality of the case to the funder, ensuring a positive outcome.
Hesdin Hall is a beautiful house that is sure to be booked out for months to come and we look forward to working with Jim on the forthcoming projects.”
